bio:
as a visual/performance artist, ila employs the use of practical lights, moving images and live contemporary performance elements to create her own narratives. she pushes the boundaries of her physical being, making use of her body to replicate sounds and create movements and bodily forms within a spatial context.
ila often creates works that spark conversations and generate discussions about the female individual in relation to present societies. She seeks to create alternative languages to address the void of verbal expressions, mistranslations and miscommunications. she weaves imagined narratives with existing realities, with light as her medium of choice, and invisible communities as her point of interest
Name: Chand Chandramohan
Bio:
Born in 1992, Chand Chandramohan graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts in Fine Art. Through practice, she has an inclination towards a performance medium with surrealistic tendencies. Her main practice is exploring the medium of performance art whether be it deconstructing time, space, or the relationship between the audience and the performer. Her interests currently lie in in deconstructing aspects of performance art and reconstructing them again, through research or through the medium itself.
Name: Sonia Kwek
Bio: Sonia is a performer and performance-maker. She started as a theatre practitioner but enjoys performing between and outside defined genres/mediums/roles. Collaboration, devising, experimentation, liveness, movement image-body work are characteristic of her practice. Sonia seeks to disrupt usual ways of perceiving or interacting, whether with a concept or a space. Currently, Sonia is interested in the politics of the female body, the notion of performing gender and the unpacking the uses of eroticism.
Some of Sonia's performing credits include: dancing in Nak Dara (Choreographer: Ha Syimah) as part of Joget at Pentas 2018, Esplanade; performing with Kaizen M.D at durational performance responses to exhibitions for Art After Dark 2017 at Gillman Barracks; zentai/performance art at Singapore Art Museum for Night Festival 2016. Sonia’s solo devised work Hymen Instinct, will appear in EX-Theatre Asia Weekend Theatre Festival 2018
